Solicitor Requirements

1. This is an extract of the
City of Kenmore Ordinance #04-0198 reference Peddlers, Solicitors, and Transient
Merchants

2. All persons selling,
soliciting, taking or attempting to take orders for goods are required to be
registered with the City
of Kenmore.
3. It is unlawful and a
nuisance for any person to be soliciting or selling items door to door unless
they are registered with
the city clerk.
4. All solicitors must be in possession of a valid copy of their solicitor/peddler certificate at all times.
5. Solicitor or Peddlers will only operate between the hours of 8am and 8 pm.
6. If there is a "No Soliciting" sign posted, no solicitor or registered peddler is permitted to contact residents - even with a permit.
7. Bridlepath HOA has the above sign POSTED at the entrance to our development.
8. Exemptions – Officers or
employees of the city, county, state, or federal government, or any subdivision
thereof when
on official business. Charitable, religious, nonprofit
organizations, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to)
any candidate for public office or other similar civic,
charitable, or non profit organizations shall be exempt from all
provisions except the section pertaining to compliance with
"No Soliciting" signage.
9. Penalty – Violation of this
Ordinance is a Misdemeanor and may be punished by a fine of up to $1000.00
and/or
imprisonment not to exceed 90 days.
10. If you have a solicitor
come to your door you are not required to answer the door. If you choose to
answer the door,
you can inform them that our HOA does not allow solicitors. If
the person refuses to comply or becomes hostile or
aggressive, close your door and call 911 to report the
incident.
